"It's About Life"

The State Legislature will soon be voting on a bill to replace the death penalty with life without the possibility of parole. Although it is not recognized by the National Right to Life lobby or even by all "pro-life" Catholics, the death penalty clearly is a "life issue". Alfred Doblin published a very good editorial in yesterday's Record stating:
As a society, if we choose to make a statement about the value of life, we cannot make that statement through sanctioned executions. Our criminal justice system can be designed to ensure that violent criminals remain incarcerated.
